They gave me bacon I couldn’t cut this morning

Dear Mom & Dad

I received you letter and one from Dons folks today. I was real glad to here from Dad.

Im glad he sold the jeep.  If he sells my car he can get a carryall.

Dad, I have seen the ocean one time.  That was when we were on a 5 mile hike.  It is about 3 miles from here.

If you come out here at Christmas, I will be able to get a pass then or over the weekend.  Only 50% of the company can go at one time.  I will get time off if you can stay at least one week, maybe sooner.

I lived through K.P.. yesterday.  I wend to work at 4:30 AM and got off

at 9:00 P.M.  I worked like the devil.  The only rest we got was while we ate.  I scrubbed pots & pans, peeled spuds and apples, cleaned silver & trays,  washed and mopped tables and floors.  The food is absolutely rotton.  Everyone is gripping. I’m back to craving candy and cokes.  When I got good food at home I didn’t crave it.  We had raw beans, rice & tomatoes, peelings, cold corn, greens and hot weak coffee, and deluted grapefruit juice for dinner.  They gave me bacon I couldn’t cut this morning.  I ruined a fork on it.

Well till then
Love Karl

P.S. Write soon, Tomorrow
